Bear Flag Robotics develop software which allows tractors to autonomously navigate, without the need for GPS. Using sensors and actuators – a type of motor responsible for moving a mechanism – growers can automate their farm tasks. It can integrate and fit on existing tractors to reduce costs.
HOW THEY’RE DISRUPTING
Bear Flag Robotics can reduce grower’s operational costs when they invest in the autonomous technology, offering returns of up to 75% of existing tractor labour costs, and increasing production yield by 11%.
Despite the growing demand for agricultural products, it is estimated that there will be little change to agricultural employment statistics from 2016 – 2026. There is not enough labour to work, and the costs are rising. Automation allows farmers to take away the more routine tasks required.
INVESTMENTS AND FUTURE
Bear Flag Robotics have had an undisclosed investment from Trucks VC, and are testing their tractors in California with pilot customers.
